WOMEN AND THEIR RIGHTS

For generations now since time in memorial, women, who are the female species of the human populace, have always been subjected to second fiddle by their male human counterparts. The male chauvinism has always categorized women as the weaker sex of the two.

While on one hand this has been considered to be the case, on the other hand, women themselves have been their own worst enemy, despising and down trending themselves and their fellow women.

I would rather quote here that the inferiority syndrome has been so much engraved in their minds such that they have reluctantly and deliberately refused to wake up to the fact that they are their own makers and/or destroyers.

In as much as we would want to lobby and push for their freedom in all aspects, it still remains a fact that they can only be the ones to make the final push out of that cocoon of inferiority and take their rightful place as equal partners in all endeavors.

This is basically because;

Fact: Without women, there would be no men, no children, and no world to conquer

Fact; On matters of inner strength of survival, men are no much against women.

Fact; On matters of humility and understanding, women take it all

Fact; On family matters, women are the pillars that hold it all together

Fact; In times of turmoil, women survive and hold up better than men do

Fact; On matters of instinct, women save many an occasions far better than men

Fact; In times of war, its women and children who take the brunt of the suffering and yet they come out of it stronger than ever before

Fact; When hunger strikes, its women who are strong enough to go out looking for food and water in a many communities

Yet despite all the above facts among many, the rights of the women have been disregarded. Their very important role in the balancing of nature and life as we know it today, has totally been taken for granted by all. Despite their biological anatomy, women have proved over and over again that given the opportunity, they have the best IQ that the human race can ever achieve in any field that the men claim to dominate.

For example, let us take driving for instance.

There are very many women drivers today that were not there a decade ago. Many of them own personal cars while a good number of them have been employed by reputable companies and institutions as drivers. The ratio of the rate of accidents on the roads caused by men to that of women is 10:1. The number of men charged of drunken driving to that of women is 15:1. This does not mean that women do not drink and drive neither that there are no women who are speed-happy on the highways.

You mention any kind of career today and you will find a lot of women in those fields and actually becoming very very successful. Take the case of single mothers who are thus either by circumstances or by choice. Their households are far much better organized than those of single parenting men not forgetting the fact that their income scales are always 1:3 respectively.

What I am simply trying to drive home here is that women can do anything career wise that men can do and probably even better. The issue of the biological aspect of their anatomy should never arise as a reason or excuse for their discrimination or disregard.

Women have their equal rights of treatment, perception, recognition and involvement just like their male counterparts. These rights have always been down trodden and have basically led to the woes that these world is in today.

I dare challenge the male fraternity, today to put aside their egos for just a while, and give the women a chance to do what they do. These world would change for the better without even the slightest effort and I believe that peace would now be the order of the day.
